8th Annual Atlanta Food for the Soul
Food Drive Ends November 30th
UniverSoul Circus celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2013 in the place where it all started, Atlanta. UniverSoul Circus also marks its 8th consecutive year of the Food for the Soul program working with another hometown favorite, the Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless Food Bank.
As we go into the final weeks of the Atlanta food drive, the following schools are registered as of November 16th:

* Schools who registered early will receive Family Four Packs for one of our selected evening performances that can be used as a reward, fundraiser, or special acknowledgement.
VERY IMPORTANT – This year the winner is determined by weight, not by number of items. The school that collects the greatest amount of food will receive tickets to a morning performance of UniverSoul Circus for the entire school when the circus returns to Atlanta in February to Turner Field. The date of the Food For The Soul show will be announced on December 12th.
In order to keep the playing field level for schools with smaller student bodies, the school donating the greatest student-to-food item ratio (based on weight) will also win tickets to the circus.
Food will be collected December 3rd – 7th and each school that delivers food directly to the food bank will receive a 20% bonus in item count. Weight will be recorded by Hosea Feed The Hungry at the food bank. Also, in order to be eligible to win the first place prize a minimum of 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food items is required.
This past school year, the schools that received FFTS tickets for the entire school were first place winner R. N. Fickett Elementary and the ratio winner William M. Boyd Elementary. KIPP WAYS Academy also received tickets for finishing in third.

Metro area students work through their schools to donate nonperishable food items in exchange for the chance to win tickets to the circus for every single student, teacher and staff member in the school.
The school that collects the greatest amount of food will receive tickets to a morning performance of UniverSoul Circus for the entire school when the circus returns to Atlanta in February to Turner Field. In order to keep the playing field level for schools with smaller student bodies, schools donating the greatest student-to-food item ratio will also win tickets to the circus.
Each school will need to Register and students and school supporters may take the non-perishable food items to school any day from now through November 30th. This year, for the first time, each school that registers by October 31st will receive 2 Family Four Packs for one of our selected evening performances that can be used as a reward, fundraiser, or special acknowledgement.

2012 Food For The Soul Hampton Roads Winner
Ingleside Elementary School
UniverSoul Circus is very pleased to announce that Ingleside Elementary School of Norfolk Public Schools is the winner of the 2012 Hampton Roads Food For The Soul program followed by Syms Middle School of Hampton in second place.
The Food For The Soul program helps to restock the pantries of local food banks, and in Hampton Roads the food collected goes to the Foodbank of Southeastern Viriginia and the Foodbank of the Peninsula. Our very generous students collected well over 5,000 pounds of food.
UniverSoul Circus applauds the students, parents, teachers and administrators for making such a significant donation to the food banks to help serve those in need.
Ingleside Elementary will receive 350 tickets to the UniverSoul Circus Food For The Soul show on Sunday, June 3rd at 12:30pm, which is the last day of our 2012 Hampton Roads engagement at The Gallery at Military Circle from May 29th – June 3rd.
UniverSoul Circus has created a big top thrill-ride infused with an unparalleled global mix of circus artistry, music, dance and style – all inspired by reflections of the world around US. The UniverSoul Circus 2012 production entitled “US” – featuring Shaolin Kung Fu acrobats from China, bone-breaking contortionists with hop-hop flair from Guinea, a hilarious acrobatic comedy from South Africa, and much, much more.
UniverSoul Circus is very proud of the wonderful spirit of giving that we see in our youth and in many of the communities across the country. UniverSoul Circus will continue to support humanitarian endeavors and certainly support those providing Food For The Soul.

The 4th Annual UniverSoul Circus Food for the Soul Hampton Roads Food Drive
The UniverSoul Circus 4th Annual Food for the Soul food drive invites Hampton Roads and Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools students are invited to find a special way to give back to those in need by donating food to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, the Foodbank of the Peninsula, or the Food Bank of the Albermale in exchange for the chance to win tickets to the UniverSoul Circus when we return to Hampton Roads May 29th – June 3rd.The school that collects the greatest amount of food will receive 300 tickets to the Sunday, June 3rd 12:30pm performance of UniverSoul Circus at The Gallery at Military Circle Mall. To even the playing field for schools with smaller student bodies, the two schools donating the greatest student-to-food item ratio will be declared the 2nd place winner and third place winners.
Each school will need to Register and should begin to collect canned goods and other non-perishable food items. Students may take the non-perishable food items to school any day April 16th thru May 4th.
Food will be collected May 7th & 8th and each school that delivers food directly to the food bank will receive a 20% bonus in item count. Please note, in order to be eligible to win the first place prize a minimum of 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food items is required.

UNIVERSOUL CIRCUS ANNOUNCES 7TH ANNUAL ATLANTA FOOD FOR THE SOUL WINNERS R.N. FICKETT ELEMENTARY, WILLIAM M. BOYD ELEMENTARY AND KIPP WAYS
UniverSoul Circus is very pleased to announce that R. N. Fickett Elementary school collected the most food items for the UniverSoul Circus 2012 Atlanta Food For The Soul program, and is the overall winner. William M. Boyd Elementary is our 2nd place winner by food count and ratio. So, per our program rules for Atlanta, Fickett and Boyd will receive tickets for all of the students and teachers to attend UniverSoul Circus at our special Food For The Soul Show on Wednesday, February 15th at 10:30am.
KIPP WAYS is our 3rd place winner, which means our top three schools are all part of the Atlanta Public Schools system. Our other participating schools are L. P. Miles Elementary, M. Agnes Jones Elementary, Margaret Fain Elementary, and North Clayton High School. Each school will receive some tickets for participating in the Food For The Soul program.
UniverSoul Circus returns to Atlanta February 9th thru February 26th at Turner Field in the Green Lot under the Big Top Tent. Our 2012 show will once again provide all of the thrills and excitement only UniverSoul can bring with our line-up of international acts of the highest caliber. We are certainly thrilled to share our show with the many boys and girls who are sharing food for those in need.
We are confident that in addition to the excitement of winning tickets to the UniverSoul Circus, the students reinforced their character building, education and citizenship through sharing, teamwork, and giving. Many of the students will continue with humanitarian causes throughout their lives since they are building a good foundation in their formative years.
We encourage our educators to continue their good work with our future leaders of the community, education, politics, military, religion, science, and entertainment. UniverSoul Circus looks forward to expanding our work with youth, educators and many others in the community. The thousands of food items collected will provide a significant portion of the food needed to serve the thousands of people that Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless serves year round through their food bank in Atlanta. School children in elementary and middle schools throughout the region are invited to find a special way to give back to those in need during the holiday season through the UniverSoul Circus’ Food for the Soul food drive.
The school that collects the greatest amount of food will receive tickets to a morning performance of UniverSoul Circus for the entire school when the circus returns to Atlanta early next year to Turner Field. To even the playing field for schools with smaller student bodies, schools donating the greatest student-to-food item ratio will also win tickets to the circus.

UniverSoul Circus Announces 2011 Food For The Soul Hampton Roads Winner: Douglass Park Elementary School
UniverSoul Circus is very pleased to announce that Douglass Park Elementary School of Portsmouth Public Schools is the winner of the 2011 Hampton Roads Food For The Soul program. Westhaven Elementary of Portsmouth and Lindenwood Elementary of Norfolk came in second and third place, respectively.Our other participants are Brighton Elementary of Portsmouth, Ingleside Elementary, P.B. Young Elementary and Willoughby Elementary of Norfolk, and Phoebus High School of Hampton.
The Food For The Soul program helps to restock the pantries of local food banks, and in Hampton Roads the food collected goes to the Foodbank of Southeastern Viriginia and the Foodbank of the Peninsula. Our very generous students practically doubled last year’s total and collected over 8,000 pounds of food that will provide well over 6,000 meals.
UniverSoul Circus applauds the students, parents, teachers and administrators for making such a significant increase in the amount of meals the food banks will be able to serve those in need. UniverSoul Circus must also acknowledge the support of Clear Channel, DJ B of 103 JAMZ, KISS 92.1 FM, as well as our Food For The Soul coordinator Jacque Kendall.

The UniverSoul Circus line up for 2011 will flat out blow you away. Our highly energetic and interactive show includes new acts such as the beautiful and enchanting Rahel of Ethiopia who will twist and turn her way into our hearts with a cutting edge presentation of contortion we like to call Pretty Girl Rocks. We traveled all the way to Dalian, China to unearth Modern Biker Girls, a group of amazing young ladies who will put any extreme biker to shame with their amazing two-wheel, non-motorized, dexterity. And we’ve brought new meaning to the Russian Swing Act, armed with an acrobatic attitude and a whole lotta rhythm as they swing themselves into the upper echelons of our big top, along with many other amazing acts.

UniverSoul Circus 2011 Food For The Soul Food Drive – Hampton Roads
UniverSoul Circus, 103JAMZ, KISS 92.1 & 107.7 FM, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, and the Foodbank of the Peninsula are reaching out to Hampton Roads schools to participate in the UniverSoul Circus Food For The Soul program for the opportunity to win 500 tickets.
The winners will receive tickets for the 12:30pm show on Sunday, May 1st which is the final day of our engagement at Military Circle Mall April 26th – May 1st.
The Food For The Soul program encourages youth to collect and donate non-perishable food items to help feed thousands of people in need throughout the year via local food banks. The Food for The Soul drive will take place March 28th – April 15th and the winners will be announced on April 19th.
UniverSoul Circus will reward the school that collects the most food overall with 500 tickets to the circus. NEW - Because the size of the student populations vary widely, UniverSoul Circus will reward the second place winner with 250 tickets based on the ratio of food to students, and the third place winner based on ratio with 100 tickets. Each school that delivers food directly to the food bank will receive a 20% bonus in weight. Please note, in order to be eligible to win the first place prize a minimum of 500 pounds of food will need to be collected so take advantage of the 20% bonus opportunity.
